1968 Football Team

Coached by the legendary John Bauer, Sr. (who was inducted into the Randolph Hall of Fame in 2014), this was Randolph’s first State Championship team, per the Star Ledger (there were no official rankings). It was also Randolph’s first All Area Champion team and first All County Champion team. Their record was 8 wins, 1 loss. John Bauer had arrived at Randolph in 1966 and began molding the sophomores at that time into what became this championship team two years later. Their three-year record was 22-5 (6-3 in 1966; 8-1 in 1967, and 8-1 in 1968). This was a sharp improvement from the 1-27-1 overall record that had preceded them. This team laid the foundation for the greatness of Randolph Football and, more importantly, for all Randolph sports that was to follow. They concepts of success were conceived, believed and achieved by these boys.
